Nepal Visa

    Hi all,

I am travelling on Holiday to Nepal soon and am applying for a Tourist Visa. There is no Nepal Embassy in Ireland and, therefore, I will be applying through the Embassy in London.

Have anyone of you ever done this?

I need to know how much money to send them. The following site says the figure in Sterling for the application fee but I need to know how much that is in Euro. Is it possible to buy a Sterling Postal Order in an Irish bank?

    http://www.nepembassy.org.uk/visa_information.html

    Any information is welcome.

    Thanks,
    Jeff

You don t need a visa in advance for Nepal (you do for India though). They sell visas on arrival at Tribuvan Airport in Kathmandu- you must pay in $US only so make sure to have some on you.
The first time I was there I think it was $30 for a 60 day visa but I was there again last summer and they had jacked it but I cant quite remember the exact price- it was either $35 or $40.
There is also a departure tax that wont be included in your flight ticket- it is approx €18 and payable in Nepalese rupees so make sure you have enough on you before departure. There is an ATM outside the airport in any case.

If you wait to get your visa at the airport what documentation do you need? Is passport, airline ticket, accommodation reservation and 2 passport photos enough?

    Thanks

I crossed the boarder by land from India and all I needed was the dollars and my passport. It was very quick and no hassel at all.
