In the market for a new jacket (and possibly boots or wellingtons - haven't decided how far the budget stretches yet), so wondering what kit others use and what they recommend. I'm on a fairly tight budget too, so that would have to be taken into consideration.

as far as jackets go swazi are the best i have used

the coustom`s have tightened up on the inport tax this last while alrite sometimes you can be lucky and get away with out paying any , i never paid tax on importing clothing but that could of changed , i find that even with being hit with import tax you still get a good deal as the same quaility of gear here in ireland will cost you loads more ,

heres the gear i bought and i can say it is 100% waterproof even when laying down on wet ground waiting on deer and its very quite too not like some wet gear witch is way too noisy for stalking, didn`t get taxed on these

bought these also great boot for walking all day in didn`t get taxed on these for some reason

if your ordering from cabelas pick the 20% shipping thats the cheaper one your gear will come through post with a lesser chance of tax , rather than the dear courier UPS witch always gets hit with import tax

I bought new boots. I looked at the hunter and agile( think thats the name) but settled on dunlop purefort. Good boot comfy. And near 20 euro cheaper than the other two.

Anyone using British Army surplus stuff? Is it any good? Was looking at a smock/jacket and boots for cheap, and if it's decent, I'd grab it.

Bought a pair of Danner pronghorn boots from the states. Straight out of the box and out lamping. Boots did not need to be broke in and are so comfortable even after long walks. Well worth the money in my op. When you see what waterproof boots are on offer in this country and the prices they charge it really is a joke. The sooner a company opens up a propper outdoor sports good shop here that advertise the prices as well as what they have the better. I think the more you try to get some good gear here the more frustrating it makes you.
Shooting suppliers have a limited if not bare basic selection and say due to the market or because people will not buy good boots, they are happy to pay €25 for a pair of wellies that will have their feet in bits at the end of the day. Right end of rant on suppliers here.

i have a pair of dunlop wellies e20 and an irish army jacket for the last 4/5 years find them great, my bro got me a pair of wellies from cabelas got caught for the tax, they didnt fit had to send them back too big e50, apart from that lovely comfortable boot, have been watching e-bay for a while jacke pyke boots £55 and p&p £22,,,was down with my gun dealer today aigle wakling boots e110 and whitewater camo trousres e65,

Bought a dutch army coat last september they are excellent, water repellant and not to heavy, also it is very hard wearing get through briars without any bother. €20 in Amsterdam street market

Also look at Lowa and Hanwag for boots - not cheap though.
