Hey everyone, been absent for a while (finishing up my PhD) but made time for a trip to Venice recently so thought I'd post up my proudest moments here. Click the photos to be brought to flickr to see the rest if you're interested. Any C&C is of course welcome.

I like them a lot, unusual. Nice vibrant colours.

These shots could have been taken anywere, nothing in them to indicate they were taken in Venice. I don't like any off them, but out of the bad bunch, I would choose the 3rd one because it has a bit off atmoshpere.

I know nothing about photography but I love Venice...and love these pictures! Especially the one in black and white looking down on the people by the canal...that picture was so obviously, to me taken in Venice.:)

love 1,3 and the last 2 (all good but those are the standouts) the blues in the sky are really really vibrant - the only thing I wouldn't be particularily gone on was the pic of the water as that shade of green does nothing for me - but then again you didn't invent the water so I'll leave it slide.

I like the second one best..instantly transported me back there , exploring the little winding streets off the beaten track.

I was expecting obvious, canal, gondola , railto bridge, San Marco square, shot of risotto dish...i.e the typical set that you find on a wiki page.

I shot a load of pics in Pisa a few months ago I cant look at them now cause Ive just seen em a million zillion times taken by a million zillion other photographers...I guess my point is, its your trip , with your memories with shots that are unique to you and I think the few here are pretty good...I for one support you as the new non conformist overloard of tourist photography ;)

Can't please everyone but does a photo have to be obvious in what it's about? Does the world need another shot of a gondola or Piazza San Marco? I did take photos of these things (as I said, click on the pics to go to the gallery, lots of traditional shots there) but I felt these were more interesting precisely because they were not the usual Venice shots. I think there's interesting colours and textures and they sum up MY trip to Venice as opposed to everyone's trip to Venice. :)

    Didn't I? ;)

Thanks! (and for the record, the last two aren't Venice proper. The archway was on the island of Torcello and the brightly painted houses were on Burano.)
