Difference between 1st 2nd and 3rd gen Iphone?

1st Gen had no 3G, 2nd Gen does, 3GS is pretty similar to the 2nd model but with a faster processor and a few other bits and pieces. I would imagine that unless you get the first gen very very cheap it should be avoided really if you can get a 2nd gen with a half decent price.
