    Hey,

I am thinking of selling my ps3 for the slim, but would not sell untill 1st september. I don't know how much I would get. It's a launch 60gb upgraded to 320gb and includes the following PSN Games:

    PSN Games

    The Punisher
    Precipice of Darkness Ep. 1
    Soldner X
    Power Up Forever
    Zuma
    Wolfenstine 3D
    Bejewled 2
    Shatter
    Battlefield 1943
    Super Stardust HD
    Flower
    Supersonic Acrobatic Battle Cars
    Pain
    Crystal Defenders
    Wipeout HD
    Inferno Pool
    Tekken 5 Online
    Mortal Kombat 2
    Rag Doll Fists of Plastic
    Trash Panic
    3 on 3 NHL
    Burn Zombie Burn
Super Street Fighter Turbo HD Remix
    Nucleus
    Pixel Junk Eden
    Noby Noby Boy
    High Stakes Poker
    High Velocity Bowling
    Flow
    Calling All Cars
    Wolf of the Battlefield 3
    Snakeball
    Magic Ball
    GTI Club
    Fat Princess
    Piyomotama
    Astro Tripper
    Riff: Everyday Shooter

    PS1 Classics

    Metal Gear Solid
    Final Fantasy 7
    Hercules
    Crash Bandicoot 3
    Crash Bandicoot 2
    Crash Bandicoot
    Reel Fishing
    Red Alert 2
    Fade to Black
    Spyro
    Tekken 2

Although if someone that buys it wants 1 or 2 accounts for themselves a few games would be deleted. What price would I get for this kinda bundle? Would I get over or under 300euro?

    Thanks,
    John

    €350/370 would be fair.

Personally, I think you'd be mad to sell your launch PS3 for the slim. You'll lose 4 USB ports, the memory card readers, PS2 compatibility and the ability to stand it on its side without paying €24. Earlier PS3s still fetch a high price on eBay because they had so many extra features.

You won't gain anything but the smaller form factor.

Neither would i The 60gb PS3 is allmost a modern collectors item, Your 320gb hard drive and having to go to the bother of downloading all those games again and loosing all those other features ! Its just not worth it.

Plus im not sure but i think once you delete your profile a lot of those games you downloaded could be deleted happened my when i got COD maps off my buddy then deleated his profile the maps went too.

You would be mad to sell. The 60gb is the best version of the PS3.

I love the PS3 don't get me wrong, but I just want the slim. I also have an Xbox 360 for sale with the following:

    Xbox 360 Arcade (Boxed)
    60GB HDD
    2 XBL Headsets
    2 wireless controllers
VGA Cable (to hook up to a monitor)

    XB 360 Games

    Crackdown
    Forza Motorsport 2
    Viva Pinata
    Virtua Tennis 3
Banjo and Kazooie Nuts and Bolts
    Gears of War 2
    Burnout Paradise Ultimate Box
    Trivial Pursuit
    Mass Effect
    Sega Superstars Tennis

    XBL Arcade

    TMNT Turtles in Time
    Castle Crashers
    Splosion Man
    Marble Blast Ultra
    Hexic HD
    Peggle

But I can't seem to sell it, no one seems to be interested and it as good as new. I would prefer 2 ps3's than a ps3 and xbox 360 as I love my PS3 and if I did get another slim then I could use it for new accounts to game share with people etc. Which will get me more games :)

I'm the opposite... i'm planning on adding an Xbox to my collection in the next few weeks, there's too many exclusives (these days) to only have one.

Plus i can't figure all this craic from people wanting to trade in their PS3 for a slim, it defies logic

For starters nobody knows what the reliability of the model yet, it could easily end up having problems(RROD etc....), only time will reveal this.

Also at the end of the day it's only a box sitting in front of your telly, why trade in one, (thats not that big in fairness) , that working perfectly fine for one that's going to be slightly smaller?.... plus you've got the added negatives of losing your downloaded games on top of that

The only logical way you should pick one over the other, is if you don't already have one and your just entering the market

It would be like trading in a 2008 Astra for a 2009 because of slightly different interior, your just wasting money for a minor change...... by all means go for it if/when your 60gig bites the dust but until then forget about the few inches space you'll save :D

Definitely not worth trading the old one for the new version. Id love to have another USB ports and BC on mine.

Just a note on your XBLA games...they are pretty much useless to anyone else. Only your gamertag can use them so unless your giving away that with the email/password/contact details that go with the gamertag the games are not worth anything.

I just checked over in Robberstop, sorry Gamestop, and they'll give €210 trade in on a 60GB, ot €150 cash. Was half thinking about trading in for an 80GB Fat.

Had a reply to someone else about this but you realise they have to sell it on again right? For more than 150e? Also the price they charge when reselling has to be enough below the 299 they now cost in order for it to be an attractive prospect for buyers.

Given the price cut I think that looks about right. Obv a better trade option.

Why? I just don't understand why you want to sacrifice the SUPREME PS3 (imo) for the dumbed down version.

I am going to keep the phat more than likely but get rid of the 360 and get a slim. What is the trade in value for a boxed 80GB PS3 in GAME now though? As I have been offered one for my 360...

    EDIT:

Rang GAME there offered me 136euro for 360 and 60gb hdd..And thats not even cash

And also 150euro for 80gb PS3 when the 60gb gets 205euro in gamestop from what I hear

That is a joke to be honest...

Anyone know trade in for 80gb PS3 in gamestop then? There is none of them near me.

    220 for 80gig ps3 in gamestop

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,578 ✭✭✭WarZoneBrother

    220 for 80gig ps3 in gamestop

Ye after ringing them aswell...They also told me they will be offering an extra 20euro on the trade in making that 240euro up against pre ordering the slim...Only problem is, I have no gamestop within an hour away and I will be back to school when it's released so don't know how I could pick it up...

If I pre-order and get 240euro credit, can I pick up the slim any time for the extra 59euro?...Seems like a good deal to me tbh..But I wonder will they charge 329euro for the console or what?

Thank Jebus you came to your senses !!! Mad to get rid of it.
When all the PS2's have finally died yours will still play PS2 games along with the other stuff.
If you want to make it smaller......

The chances of the supply of PS2s running dry before his aging 60GB kicks the bucket are slim.

Thanks Noodler, where do I go for a degree in the blatantly obvious? They are thieving barswtewards for games and trades, but considering the price drop they aren't bad on this. Would cost me €90 to trade up which isn't bad.

If it was that obvious then why post it?

You saying you posted that Gamestop offering you 150e (or 250 trade) was a rip-off but you knew it was actually a realistic deal for any company trying to make any profit on a 2nd hand one in the aftermath of the price drop?

If your point is that they are rip-off merchants in general then that is a different story but your example was a poor one.

I was posting up the price they quoted me, nothing else, seeing as nobody else had put up a price on a 60GB. You seem to make more of it than was intended, for example where did I say or imply it was a rip off for the 60GB?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54,946 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

I rang gamestop recently and was quoted 220 euro for my 80gb ps3

so ill probably sell it privately ;)

Now come on, you call the place a rip-off (true or not) and quote a trade in price in the same sentence.

Are you confusing my post with someone else's? I never said it was a rip-off. I'd suggest you read my post again to make sure. You were actually the first to use the words rip-off.

Are you selling it on its own? I'd have thought people would plug for a brand new one for 40e more tbh but not giving Gamestop your money is always a good point.

Yes as long as the owner does not claim his account as being stolen or whatever...

Anyways I read above that someone said the 80gb ps3 gets trade in as 220 but I rang today and they said they will give 240euro if they pre order ps3 slim (they say the deal is coming soon but is not now) they are awaiting confirmation which is a good deal for a 80gb ps3 you just got to lash out another 60euro to get 40gb more and a slimmer and newer console...

    Seems fair to me...

Why are you denying something so silly. You were wrong to imply they were giving you a bad price. Just admit it. Last I'll say on it.

Good, because you're trying to put words in my mouth, and to be honest making a twat of yourself. I was surprised the price was so good, but you seem to have convinced yourself otherwise.

Don't get personal now. The problem with your new proclaimed change of heart is that it is hard to believe you went 4 or 5 posts in this little chirade and are only now saying you feel it was a good price.

At the very least you can agree that from the following

But it says he 'was' thinking about it, as in was thinking about it right up until he found out the price offered. Then of course theres the Robberstop comment.

Really though, I'll leave it there.

Only to the rabbits at the controls in your head, mate. Seriously, if you had friends to ask, don't you think they would advise you to maybe relax a bit? You seem hellbent on getting me to say something it was never my intention to say, and instead of taking it that you were wrong, are now trying to cast it is as some convoluted plan to.......well I'm not entirely sure what. Anyway, I'm going to put you on my ignore list, as you obviously have some agenda I'm not seeing, and frankly life is too short. BTW, if I think someone is rip-off, I have no hesitation in saying it, I don't bandy words. Gamestop are thieving b*st*rds in game trade in values, hence my surprise at the deal for the PS3. Last time to you, and on this subject. Get the bunnies out playing in the fields. Put me on your ignore list too, it would probably help.
