Doing final year Civil Eng in UCD. I was just choosing my modules for registration. I've picked two structural and a hydraulics module but I'm having a little trouble deciding between Unit Treatment Process in Water Engineering or Soil Mechanics & Geotechnical.

I think Soil and Geo are valuable to compliment construction and design modules

    on the other hand

Water Treatment seems to be getting more prominent with increasing populations and limited water resources (despite it raining constantly for the month of august!!!)

Just wondering has anyone any past experience of the mentioned modules/subject areas or any advice on which would most beneficial to choose?

This is the link outlining the modules
    Its Stage 4: 2nd Sem

    Any help is greatly appreciated,

    Toasteen

I'd drop one structural and pick the other two.

There will never be the same level of work in structures. The other options would have better employment opportunities over the long term

OP just be aware that Bridge is probably the most difficult subject choice in 4th year UCD, its very broad, with I think five different lecturers all giving unique components from deck design to pier scouring

I did Geotech and hydraulics, back just before horizons existed! We had to do all the other subjects and choose 2 to specialise in.
The Geotech course was very wide open and seemed a bit vague but it was actually a very good course. Hydraulics was a very good course, easy enough.
Far as I remember friends doing structural modelling found it pretty hard and time consuming. It's also a good point - don't specialise too much in structures, make yourself as versatile as possible.
