Rent Help needed!!

Myself and my friend moved into an appartment in March 08.We saw out the 12 months.In march 09 we agreed to a rent reduction and another 12 months. However we didnt recieve any notification of the rent reduction or a new lease to sign. Can we now just give one months notice to leave(as we want to!)? Any advice greatly…
