    Hey guys,
I got offered Communications and i applied for my place to be deffered until next year... Still no reply from them but is there any chance it will be rejected?
My career guidance teacher from last year said there shouldnt be any problem but im still wondering...
    Thanks!

Will totally depend on your reason for deferring. It shouldn't be a problem.

Well, I said i wanted to spend some time in Brazil (im half-brazilian)
and that i want to work before i start university, to save some money... so i hope theyre happy with that
Any idea when they will usually let me know, coz im waiting for their reply before i book my flights....
    Cheers for the reply lads!

Ah im sure it will be fine. Your reason may raise an eyebrow in terms of Brazil travels - but saying that you wanted to save some money will give you brownie points. Communications is a highly competitive course to get into - but Debbie Ging et al are understanding, progressive people - I am sure you will be fine. Fingers crossed anyway.

Have you tried ringing them? 4 days is nothing tbh. The programme chair is the person who'll have to sign off on it, so if you haven't already done so, email them and you'll get a yes/no answer (there's no real reason for them to decline your request). They'll then ask you to fill in this form which they'll then have to sign. Pay the deferral fee and hand it in/post it/get the programme chair to hand it in for you to the registry in DCU and they'll send you out a letter to confirm your deferral of the academic year.

Thanks for the reply! I emailed her, but unfortunately she is on holidays until the 31st August...
I guess ill wait until Monday and call DCU..
If for some reason my letter got lost and i cant defer my place this year, I can just re-apply through the CAO next year as well right?
I got 480 points so even next year i should be offered a place again, hope it doesnt come to that though... Thx for the help guys

Did you actually write a letter or just send in the form I linked in my last post? If it's the former, you'd have been better off just sending an email and if it's the latter, you'll most likely still have to wait until the programme chair is back from holidays. If I were you, I'd go ahead and book the flights. The deadline for deferral isn't until the 31st October.

Nah, i just wrote a letter, thats what it said to do on the CAO website etc, and what i was told to do at school... Also on the CAO it says the closing date for deferral is 25th August, so i dont know.... Ill just wait and see what happens and ill give DCU a call tomorrow morning..
    Cheers!
