    Hi Guys

My oh needs to register for vat, when he sent in his tr1 form he didnt register for vat as he didnt think he would reach the threshold, now he has almosted reached the threshold so does he need to send in the tr1 with the vat section filled in or does he just need to ring the revenue. He is a sole trader if that makes a difference

Revenue might do it over the phone if your oh rings but more than likely they'l ask him to send in some written confirmation.

Better off sending in the TR1 with a cover letter saying that u wish to register for vat

Hi Sallyp. How goes it with you?

If hubby is a sole trader make sure he registers for the ROS service. It takes a couple of steps for security reasons but if you have home access to the internet it is really great. Things like registering for vat paye etc can be done on line. As well as lots of returns and your credits etc etc. If Revenue want anything or need to let you know anything you get a notification by email.

    Check it out on www.revenue.ie

    Best of luck to hubby.
