    Hi All,

Any help would is greatly needed, Friend wanted to try the win7 beta last night so i said i would install it for him.

I was making a partition for it (using a cd i have) when an error came up it just said "error, try using operating system partitioner, reboooting" or something along them lines. (This has never happpened before, ive used the cd at least 15-20 times and on the laptop before.)

Went to restart and windows vista now wont load (goes to a blue screen), ive tried safe mode and the recovery tools but they dont detect an os.
So i put the cd back in to look at the hard drive but said "cannot read sector 0 no hard drive detected".

As a last effort i loaded off a ubuntu cd i have and i had the drive comes up but the vista partition isnt there. I had made a 2nd partition when he first got the laptop where he saved his music/videos so im copying them to an external.

I dont really know what to do next.
    Its a hp pavilion tx2000.

Sorry about the length, trying to not leave out any details.

    Many Thanks.

thanks for the reply thats what i will do as a last resort. IT would mean some lost files + programs/settings would all have to be redone. He's angry enough already! :pac:

edit : it seems to be a corrupt partition table? getting a message "Current ntfs volume is bigger than the device size" on ubuntu.
