Student Loans?

Well,After reading about the tuition fees,I'm sure neither me or my family could afford them as we're struggling this year before we even get the grant..

So can anyone tell me first,If I'm eligible for a grant this year,And nothing drastically changes finances wise here,Can I get one in the second year?Or will this be scrapped as well?

Next,Seeing if I can't get this,in the second year,I'm gonna' be faced with either putting me or my family in debt and to be honest it's something I wouldn't like them to struggle with so I'd have to get a huge loan I'm assuming as I'm guessing these tuition fees aren't gonna be cheap..

So where can I go for a loan?
Is there a loan like the UK's system where you don't repay till you're earning over a certain amount a year?
I read about some type of loan off the government,Is this going ahead?

    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

    Hey, Ricky91t.

Tuition fees if/when they come in will most likely take the form of a loan or graduate tax, i.e. you will pay them at a later date after you've gained employment. It's still a massive debt though. Also those that can afford it may have to pay fees upfront. But this is all speculation. The cabinet hasn't made a decision yet and won't until mid-September at the earliest. They could decide anything.

I doubt the grant will go anywhere. If anything with tuition fees coming in there will be pressure to increase it. And, yes, if you are entitled to the grant this year you should just get a renewal form for subsequent years. But an overhaul of the grant system as per last year's Student Bill is due so there will be changes.

If you are looking for a long-term student loan to cover living expenses you'll probably have to talk to your bank or credit union.

Just to bump this up,I've just noticed how useless my laptop will be for the course, and now need to get a new one..I doubt I'll be able to get a job in the evenings after college,So would I be able to pay back the loan when I'm earning after college?

Hey National Irish Bank do a special loan for students, they will give you up to 300Euro a month every month until you graduate and you don't have to pay it back until 2 years after the graduation, i know 300 a month isn't much but at least its something you could look into, hope this helps :)
