    Just as the title says...

In these recessionary times. Can it be done? Have you done it?

    Do you have a picture?

    Is it crap? :)

Argh!!!! A wimmins bike! Looks like a pile of sh1te.

I was more thinking about building up an old clunker than buying that gate of a yoke.

Easy enough to pick up a €100 BSO in Halfraud's. Expect it to perform similarly to the ASDA bike mentioned above though.

I found an old touring bike that some american tourist bought and used once to go around Ireland back in the 80s. It's been in a garden shed for 20 years.

€30 for new tubes and tyres and ready to go. Even the dynamo still works!

cheap supermarket bikes aren't suitable for commuting

they are for impulse purchases and the few sunny days we have per year and many will be disposed of after only a few trips so they aren't designed to last

at that price range second hand is the only way to go

Second hand you could manage it if you know what you are looking at.

Well I started and have been stumped on the first hurdle. Relatively nice frame but it's got the smaller BB size. Campag? And the seat tube has welded itself into the down tube, which would make me suspect the thing may be ready to crack.

    Onwards...
