Anyone know of any good value wedding car hire places that offer a driver aswell. We will need it for max 2.5 hrs on the day and the journeys distances are VERY short. Needed in the Enniskerry area in Sept.

Current best quote is 350 for an executive bentley style car. It seems alot for the amount of time/driving required.

If anyone knows of any good solutions, let's hear it!

Cheers all

AFAIK, wedding cars are charged 'per day', and then there's an extra charge if you want them to go particularly far, so I'm not sure if you'd be able to negotiate a price down based on the short distance.

Do you have any relatives or friends who drive a fancy car? It might be worth asking them can they drive you. You could do a good cleaning job on the inside of the car, take it to a good car wash, and then do the ribbons on the outside, it wouldn't look any different to a modern wedding car. My OH's brother did this for his wedding cos they totally forgot to book a car and only remembered about a week before the big day. It worked out great though, and the car looked really well.

www.executivetaxis.ie: they do swanky cars for corporate/weddings. I used them for my wedding recently and they cost a total of e150 to:

- pick up bride from Raheny going to service in city centre
- pick us up after reception at 1.00 am going to Co. Meath

They were about half the normal wedding car service. The car was an S class merc with ribbons and the driver wore a suit.

There wasn't any "complimentary champagne" though :)

it depends on your negotiating skills - I did exactly that. Waited til a week before the day, pointed out that anyone without a booking is not likely to get one! got someone to go from the utual daily rate of €350 to €200 from 2.30pm to 6.00 pm. Picked up groom, brought him to venue, then came back for me, then drove us for photos and to hotel. all very short distances from each other. Champers etc all inc. It was in Dub so can't recommend someone for your area, but it is def worth trying to negoitiate, esp if your wedding is on a weekday in the near future.
