It's Don Pasquale by Donizetti, and if thats not to your taste, there will be one next Thursday and one the Thursday after.

If the rain holds off I'm going, anyone else?

Fantastic, if the weather is right I'll definitely head to that. Any idea what the ones in the other weeks are going to be?

Deffo! Thanks so much for this, Minister. I've plotted my journeys across Europe by one of those online calendars for opera, classical and church music. And boy, have I learnt many lessons about prices in the process, whether it was getting into the opera in Budapest for €1.25cent each per night, or into Prague for €200 for two of us for 4 nights.

I still haven't been to Verona, although this summer was meant to be my reward for years of slogging away. Next year, please God, I'll finally get to it and St Petersburg.

August 27th - 1.00 pm: HANSEL UND GRETEL – Humperdinck
    September 3rd – 1.00 pm : IDOMENEO – Mozart

I started a thread ages ago about free things on in Dublin, but it quickly died. Always thought it was a pity.

I went to the Opera in Budapest to see Carmen, something I always wanted to do. To be honest, I enjoyed the sense of occasion and the setting, but really didn't enjoy the Opera as much as I thought I would, I have no major interest in going again at the moment anyway.

I would like to see the Messiah in Cristchurch at Christmas time though

13 August – ‘Giulio Cesare’ by Handel
20 August – ‘Don Pasquale’ by Donizetti
27 August – ‘Hansel und Gretel’ by Humperdinck
