Yeah that's it. The reason I chose the shopmania link instead is because it gives more info and links about the shaver, unlike the powercity link .. They have a pretty poor website ...

Damn, just bought the exact shaver a couple of months ago for about €120 i think...

It is worth it though and especially at €49 - can't go wrong. Try not to let your skin become too dependant on the gel though - the gel doesn't come cheap :D

Its €80 in DID, got it myself in Power City for 40 a few months back, hard to get the gel though, nowhere seems to have it except ebay... :(

Can you open the bottle to put other branded gel in?

I read on a user review that its easy enough to do this, ill try it when mines empty.

it comes with a 27ml can..the shaver uses very very little to I can see this lasting a fair while. After that, Argos sell them for a tenner, but their tub has nearly 3 time that amount, 75ml.

Just to note, you don't have to use the gel, without it, it works just like any other non gel dispensing shaver.

i used a pliers to remove the top of the bottle and re-filled it and then put everything back together. it was a bit tricky with the spring in the bottle

have re-filled it a good few times but now the nozzle on the bottle is fooked so I will have to get a new one, thanks to the previous poster for the argos link

Anybody know a good place to get replacement heads for Philips' shavers? Got mine a while back... Need to replace them though! But they're pricey in Boots. May as well buy that new shaver...

you can get them here, but in most cases, its nearly as cheap just to buy a new shaver.

I get mine on eBay for about 20 euros. Had the shaver 2 years and only on my 4th se of blades now so good going compared to the equivalent cost of Mach 3 blades over the same time !

...only on my 4th set of blades...

    *only* :-)

Had my old philishave for over 10 year, the original blades were getting a bit bad at that stage but as the battery was fooked too I just invested on a new one.

How big is the hole? I have a wide bore syringe, you can get them in pet shops for feeding baby animals maybe a bit thicker than a paper clip, do you think it would fit.

I have an ancient remington, battery is gone but still works plugged in. Tears your hair out if it is more than 2-3 days growth. Lately I simply use my hair razor on a blade zero, very quick, no pulling, just looks like 1 days growth on you when done. Might not be acceptable for some peoples jobs, but it does look closer than a blade zero on your head. Only thing is that the hair goes everywhere since it is so light.

Dunno how people still pay the mad money for real blades. I was really hoping for a ceramic electrical shaver though.

Thanks OP picked one up this evening. I've been wanting one of these for a while but wouldn't pay boots the 129. Was willing to pay up to 99 but happy days at 50.

Folks does this razor have a collection tray for the shaved hairs or does it cut it and it falls off?

    Hate those collection chamber ones!

No collection chamber in mine, some falls off, the rest get stuck in the blades so you have to wash it out with water when finished (while turned on).

It does mention in the booklet that its suitable for shaving in the shower, I'd be afraid I'd miss half my face and run out the door without checking though!

    Bought this at christmas when it was posted up then, There was something wrong in powercity that it was actualy cheaper on their system than on the adverts which was nice;

In relation to the gel, I did go and buy a second gel but have found that using something like a nivea facial wash and leaving it on to do a much better job overal

went to pick one of these up but they were out of them in the tallaght branch.

just on a side note: the one online is not 49.99 down from 149.99 its 49.99 down from 89.99 (accordign to the pricetag in the shop)

the one down from 149.99 is the HS8040 which is 89.99

    still good though :)

Well, not exactly..the one i posted about(and bought in powercity) is the HS8020, which was 99.95 down to 49.95. They also stock the more expensive HS8040.

however, as mentioned in my opening post, I saw this first in Boots, in the stephens green s.c, and they are still selling the 8020 for 149.95, and they also have the HS8040 for over 200 euro.

The only difference between the two models is the HS8040 charges in 4 hours, vs. the 8020 in 8 hrs..

Purchased online this morning and selected in store collection. Paid via CC and was informed that I would receive a call. Moments later the call came in. The guy told me that they were out of stock in all branches even though the store stock indicated 2 at most of the branches.

Went to fonthill and got the display model. Happy days :D

Had a problem with one of these razors(small plastic piece that drives the cogs for the blades broken). Bought online from Drogheda Shop and not only did I have to collect from shop(no delivery) but when I brought the broken razor back they would only refund me by cheque which they are able to post out! Hope this is not a common problem and why these are marked down.

For any1 that has 1 of these and find it difficult to get the shaving conditioner, boots now sell a 3 pack (3 x 75ml) which includes a replacement cartridge for under €26 (25.49 i think) . That's the cheapest I've seen them, not bad. They also sell them in a 1 pack for €9.95, but as I mentioned in a previous post, Argos extra do them for €9.50.

    Go Team!

What do you mean by replacement cartridge?

Its a bit of a complex piece of kit. There is a combo dock which charges the razor and injects a gel into the razor simultaneously ( I think ). This is the replacement cartridges others have referred to. I bought one but have not even plugged the thing in yet or read about it ( bloody impulse buys :D). Seems like a laborious way to have a shave. Interested in feedback from users on their rating of this product.

its the chamber that holds the gel, I cant think of why you would really need to replace it tho, unless it broke or something..

the replacement 1 that come with the 3 pack of lotion from boots is mainly white, with a bit of blue, so if your fashion conscious, it changes the look of your shaver!

Not complex at all. It comes with a charging dock, which is just for charging.
To put the lotion in, you just connect the container with a little hole on the shaver and pump it in. 5-8 squirts should fill it up and last 10 shaves I'd say.
