Does anyone here programme beats?

I'm looking to collaborate with someone that programmes beats, drums, percussion, and all that.

I'm using Reason 4 at the moment and have to rely on drum loops that came with the programme as I'm not proficient enough to come up with decent ones myself. There's no response from bands & musicians so thought it's more likely that production side people would use music software regularly.

I would see it happening over the net, sending across wav and project files and working at home.

Or if anyone can suggest an alternative?

This is the kind of stuff I'm doing at the moment and you can see what I mean about the drum loops. I'd just rather have specific drums written for each piece I guess.

Also, if someone released a song that contained drum loops from Reason, would they have to pay royalties or share song writing credits?

Get yourself a copy of Propellorheads Recycle, cut out loops from songs with Soundforge or whatever you use and cut them up in to parts with Recycle. Load those parts up in to your sampler and then sequence them up and put some effects on them.

If it's choons you're making, you'd be better off just using pre-made samples, techno isn't exactly a skill of drum programming as it is one of production.
