Just wondering, what group is in overall charge on underage hurling and football in each county. Is it a Bord na nÓg or is it a coaching committee or is it some one else. How do things work out.

If you get the answer to that you will do well.

In my opinion it should be a full time director of coaching and people from Bord Na nOg.

The reason for the director is this person needs to be independent of the politics that so often corrupts counties where club politics are to the fore.

There is not enough emphasis put on skills development the emphasis seems to be on team play and as we know to be a good team player you dont have to be that skillful just intelligent. Could this be why so many counties are struggling to make the jump up a grade, they have players who are committed but not very skillful? Think this is a big problem in some counties.

You need a good blend of experienced people. Development squads appear to bring players togeather at U/13 - 14 and the plan is to nurture them into a minor team of quality. One very important thing is to have an open door policy so players who develop at different stages can be brought in for sessions. There should be about 100 players on county development squad divided into 4 x 25 with plenty of games within the county and challenge games outside the county.

Recently heard of a manager of an underage county team barking out instructions and a player telling him to take player x off. then it was heard "Da will you move me"
