What will happen to me if I miss the monthly sign in?

I think the next sign in will be a really bad time for me - I might not be able to make it in, and at least for not for a couple of days after. I'll call them and let them know, but is there anything else I should know? What will happen if I miss it?

I'm in the same boat next month and what's worse is that it's my first sign on! HAven't had a chance to go in there yet to explain, but from what I understand from looking on the responses to similar questions here:

-Your allowed take 2 weeks paid holidays per year (though it might take a few weeks to be given the payments you missed) and I imagine it must happen for a lot of people that their holiday falls on a day their supposed to do their monthly sign on.
-You need to let them know at your local office(some say 3, some say 2 weeks) in advance and fill out a form.

Any other enlightment appreciated. I'll be going in there tomorrow or Friday anyway so will post back here.

Your going to have a good job explaining to them why can't sign on yet that your still free to work and therefore should be getting you allowances.

Either take holidays or sign on when you are supposed to be, simple as that. They will have no problem stopping your payment if there is any doubt put in their mind.

    They stop your payment.

You can go in as soon as your able and sign on after that but it's unlikely they'll give you the missed payment.

Like Bluetonic said, if you can't sign on how are you available for work? If it's a one off event like a wedding go in as close to the day of your signing as possible before it with proof of the event you're going to and hope you get one of the decent sorts in there and they may let you sign early... slim chance but worth trying.

If it's not a one off event though then you simply have to get your arse in gear, being on the dole isn't supposed to be a nice holiday, your job is signing on and job seeking, if you were employed in an office it'd hardly be acceptable to tell your boss 'Sorry, can't come in next week, it's a bad time for me' and still expect payment.

what will happen if you miss it is.....
    a) they withhold payment
    b) they investigate your "claim" for unemployment benefit/assistance
    c) they ask you to sign at the next available date
    d) they question your "reason" for not being able to attend on that day ...or "at least for not for a couple of days after"

I'm guessing you dont want to tell the rest of us why you are not able to sign on the required day....and for the couple of days after.

Well my reason is not that its an anniversary present booked before I ever applied for the dole and with accomodation booked, train up etc. I can't see how it would be a major problem, surely lots are in the same boat! I'm going to take it as holidays. Does anyone see me having a problem?

Just to update, I went in to Hanover St this morning. Sorted :) The guy was dead on, pushed my pay day to Friday for that week, and I now do not need to monthly sign on until October :) Cost me 3 days holidays however, but in fairness I am not available to work those days. I asked but he said I didn't need a receipt. I might send in a letter anyway though just to get it in wiriting, but all looks good.
