Using only return leg of return flight - possible?

Have booked a return flight with Ryanair, but now thinking of flying into a different airport with Aer Lingus - booking a separate one-way flight. Would the return leg of the original Ryanair flight still be valid if we don't use the outbound part? Or do they cancel the whole thing if you don't show for the first leg?
