9/11 Question

    Hi,

Forgive my ignorance in advance but I am not sure where else to find out about my next question.

Okay - I have watched the following

    Loose Change
    Farenheit 9/11
    Zeitgeist (and Addendum)
    Conspiracy 9/11

So I have been pretty brainwashed by most of them but have noticed a couple of variations in theories between them.

So, my question is - Is there any Documentaries around that basically answer all the questions raised and put the Government in a good light or at least try and answer some of the questions raised in all of the above?

I am all for a good conspiracy but I like to get both sides of any story before reaching a conclusion!

    Thanks guys
    Alan

Therre was a programme that showed and then pretty well dispelled all of the conspiracies surrounding 9/11. I can't remember it's title unfortunately but it left me convinced that they were all BS to be frank.

    Well there's http://screwloosechange.blogspot.com/.
That actually goes through the entire movie and refutes most of the points pretty well.

    Warning: It's loooong.

As for Zietgiest this no counter movie but: http://www.conspiracyscience.com/articles/zeitgeist/

I'm not familiar with "Conspiracy 9/11" so not sure if there's anything directly debunking it.

But here's a few sites that are on 9/11 in general.
    http://www.debunking911.com/
    http://www.911myths.com/index.html

As for Fahrenheit 9/11: Michael Moore is a dishonest douche and you shouldn't trust him any further than you can throw him.

some good ones listed there alright, but did anyone watch "The Falling Man"
Not really about laying blame on anyones doorstep, but about tracking the guy that was filmed falling head first from the towers. Fairly moving documentry

    Yes and no.

As already shown, there are sources which offer counter-points to specific issues in specific videos. Of course, there are counter-counter-points in return.

Both sides will insist the reasoning and reasons offered by the other are fatally flawed.

You will never find anything - or any group of things - that answer all questions.

Thanks guys, will have a look at a few of these over the next few days and hopefully I can contribute with little more than my current biased opinion.

I suggest you try searching for anything by David Ray Griffin. He recently spoke (at Boston University, I think) so as to provide an update on the 9/11 movements. He has assenbled a number of scholars (several hundred) from chemists to engineers who question the official theory of events.

    September 11, 2001 attack theories
Following the September 11, 2001 attacks, David Ray Griffin moved his focus from questions of philosophy and religion to ones of politics and history, specifically "American expansionism and imperialism". He intended to write a book on the subject, presenting 9/11 in terms of "blowback" for aggressive United States foreign policies of the 20th century:
"Until the spring of 2003, I had not looked at any of the evidence. I was vaguely aware there were people, at least on the internet, who were offering evidence against the official account of 9/11... I knew the US government had 'fabricated' evidence to go to war several times before. Neverless... I did not take this possibility seriously... I was so confident that they must be wrong."

Griffin's second book on the subject was a direct critique of the 9/11 Commission Report, called The 9/11 Commission Report: Omissions And Distortions (2005).[9] Griffin's article The 9/11 Commission Report: A 571-page Lie summarises this book, presenting 115 instances of either omissions or distortions of evidence he claims are in the report, stating that "the entire Report is constructed in support of one big lie: that the official story about 9/11 is true."[10]

DRG is not the counterpoint the OP asked for. He asked for the other side of the story, not more of the same.

There are plenty of documentaries out there that comply or badly try to explain how it all happened, the official way.
But you seem bright enough to make up your own mind, the truth will set you free, cross reference and you'll smell the sh1t stink.
    Happy hunting.

This thread isn't about how 911 happened

    Agreed.

If the side-discussion is to continue, we can split off the posts already headed away from what the thread is about, or you guys can take it to a seperate thread on your own.

I remember when I was first introduced to these conspiracy theories by a friend who was very enthusiastic about the whole thing. I watched a couple of videos on Youtube which raised a few questions, without being hugely compelling. I then stumbled upon the megathread on this forum and proceeded to wade through it. By the end I was completely satisfied that it was just the usual CT nonsense, so I would suggest having a read of it if you can find it.

I remember in particular being in awe of bonkey's patience and solid reasoning as he despatched each crackpot theory one after another through 40-odd pages of posts. That was a great read!

That's pretty much my experience too. I stumbled on this forum after hearing someone mention that some of the supposed 9/11 hijackers were alive and well. This seemed so far fetched and nonsensical that I mistakenly presumed that that there must be some pretty amazing evidence to back up such claims, otherwise why the hell would you believe it? Within a couple of minutes of research I found out it was indeed rubbish.

And yet its still thrown out as fact by people claiming to know much more about 9/11 then us "sheeple." The mind boggles.

The unfortunate thing is that the conspiracy side is more prevalent in the media.

There are many conspiracy documentaries on the History Channel and such while there are very few documentaries specifically addressing the points made by CT ones.

While it's easy enough to go online and see that most of the claims are easily debunked, most people wouldn't bother to do that.

Well it's understandable really. Reality is just too boring for most people.

Personally I think it's a bit more complicated than that.
I think that it's that people like "aha the common knowledge isn't right, now I'm in on the joke" sensation programs like that give.

It's also probably why people enjoy QI.

    http://www.911docs.net/

Just about everything you would need is here BUT BEWARE - the vast majority of people on forums like this and who make sites about conspiracies especially concerning 9/11 are actually disappointingly extremist nut bags who eventually bore you and tire you out of ever finding anything realistic and rational - they get caught up in the entertaining, Oliver Stone side to conspiracies and amazingly enough find many who agree with them as the whole thing is self-selective and counter productive as in: most of the people who bother doing the research are not helping because they're sci-fi lovin fantasy book reading nerdy conspiracy loners (bit harsh there) as opposed to someone hopefully like yourself who will look at it from all sides and focus on the parts which raise your curiosity the most and then take the time to do as good research as the NET allows you to. Happy hunting - it's a rabbit hole by the way and you may end up spending an awful lot of time in your life in the next year or two watching these docs, reading books, papers and watching presentation only to find that there are no big picture black and whites in this stuff and that the important thing is to remain grounded amongst all the emotional stuff and to always respect the complexity and multi-layered nature of "9/11" and it’s knock on effect in the world since then. Many many very intelligent people have gone down this rabbit hole and have found it hard not to just get caught up in the flow of opinion - read, watch and listen….then go find out stuff yourself – look at photo’s, learn some of the physics, read the debunkers opinions and the debunker-debunker opinions – but at some point you should put your cards down and admit to yourself what you believe and then focus on those few points in particular until you consider you’ve done enough to arrive at your own conclusion.
