Do they hand out cuts of water or small bottles of water on the course we run?

How often is there water stations?

    Thanks

There is a Longford marathon thread also but im just doing the half.
Is there anywhere that shows the route for the half marathon, i think only the full is shown on the website.

Is there many other people out there just doing the half ?

I'm doing the half as well. I had a look on the website and can't find the half route either. I read on here that it's supposed to be pretty flat so that's all I need to know.

No there's no map showing the half marathon in longford. Thank god its flat so. It'll be my first half marathon and I'll be doing the dublin series half marathon also. Anyone else doing it!

    Hi Guys

I am doing the half as well. There is a route map at map my run http://www.mapmyrun.com/run/ireland/longford/669282296

It looks flat all right - I hope it is as I had a dreadful 10 mile last week - but I am still hoping for a sub 2 hr half and a pb!! The race is not chipped though as far as I know so maybe a min or so will be added to your time?

That's the old Half Marathon route which went out and back to Termonbarry. Last year a new route consisting of a loop was introduced.

Can't remember the new route exactly but it follows the marathon for the first two miles or so, branches off to the left when heading west, does some sort of loop and rejoins the marathon route on the N5, then leaves it again with a turn to the right until it rejoins the marathon route just outside Newtownforbes and follows the last 2 or 3 miles of the marathon route back to Longford.

It is flat, I remember that, but I don't remember much about water stations. If there are any it'll be water in plastic cups.

I ran the Longford Half last year - the new course - as the previous posters have said - the first 6 miles are flat - a bit open when you get on the N6 but otherwise fine. Despite what some of the other runners have said I thought that there was two horrible pieces of hills - between 7 and 8 mile and then before you get to the 10 mile - I can remember them being very cruel miles. I know the downhills after them cancel them out (in theory) but it was the first thing I said to to the guys ahead of me when I crossed the line that the hills were tough. Fr. McGovern who organises it and does race commentary at the finish line - had a joke with us that they were not hills at all :-) We were too out of breath to argue.

Has anyone found or plotted the actual HM route on mapmyrun yet?

After thefinishline's post I'm keen to see the elevation profile..

    Thks,
