That didn't last long. To be honest most of the guys in motoring are pretty sensible.

If only most of the motorists were too.

Yeah, I posted and lowered the "sensibleness quotient" of the place.

Didn't take the mods long to kill it though!

Its a shame they killed it. I was rushing to try put in a note that "Bubblewrap" the thread initiator also has another thread about her Audi TT and how she drove it out of a Garage with faulty brakes, only for ... ta da... the brakes to fail !

And she thinks that cyclists are dangerous. She should be taken off the road before she kills someone. Muppet.

I dunno the OP had a point in being held up by cyclists. I think there is merit in the idea of banning cycling to ease traffic congestion.

Your point is well taken as the removal of the cycle lanes will free up much needed road space - they could finally make Chestefield ave in the Park a dual carriageway.

Sure would make the park a bit more civilised. No more sweaty cyclists getting in the way.

But if we remove the cycle lanes, the power walkers and rollerbladers will have to use the road. And then they will hold up traffic. So we have achieved nothing.

Just ban cycling altogether. And walking and rollerblading too.

Roads were built for vehicles and modes of transportation with internal combustion engines.

Anything not mechanically propelled should be banned.

Before MPVs there were no roads, which makes you wonder what, in fact, the Romans ever did for us in Ireland?

Well I've often thought they should fill in the canals and have 2 new express ways in and out of Dublin. I'm not brave enough to post this on the barge forum though.

And how exactly do you propose to operate the locks without water? Do you really think that Leonardo Di Vinci would have wasted so much time inventing locks if he could just have built a road???

so we have to thank the British for these things, as the Romans brought them to Britain but never came here, and there we were complaining for 800 years:D

Well, if we'd just accepted them when they came over first then it wouldn't have taken them 800 years to civilise us now, would it????:)

As for the canals, filling them in and turning them into double-deckered super-highways (like you see in the US) is all well and good, but they run East - West, what about those of us who need to travel North - South??

To service our needs I suggest getting rid of the rail lines - I mean the DART, what's that all about then? Just another way for OMG-teens to get to and from their mates and skangers to get into to town to go robbing- get rid of the DART, replace it with a motorway and the let the feckers drive - it would save us having to suffer listening to them and sharing seats with the great unwashed. Anyway, I doubt the DART would be missed, not like it's much use to anyone.

No need. I saw one of these on the train home from Newbridge yesterday.

No. I get the impression that most of the motorists that complain about cyclists are actually train drivers. Its just that they havent switched off after thier shift and think they have exclusive rights to the road also.

Pleased to see they all have their hi-viz (and helmets) on, given there is no overtaking and (hopefully!), there's nothing coming the other way.

I hadn't though of that till you mentioned it. You get so used to people wearing hi-viz and helmets.

As is traditional, the first rider has his helmet incorrectly adjusted. Not that it's going to see any action.
