Ipod keeps feezing!?

Whenever I quickly shift between songs on shuffle for example, my ipod generally freezes resulting in me having to hold menu and the middle button to reset it! It can also be quite slow from time to time changing screens and is very very frustrating. It's a 30gb classic ipod about 2 years old.

    1) Given that she is about 2 years old, is this normal?

    2) Would restoring it to factory settings help anything at all, or just go about erasing it's content and me having to sync it all back on again (ie, pointless)?

    3) Or would taking it back to the shop and seeing if they could do anything / chance my arm at getting a replacement ( a longshot!) be worth my while?

If anyone could answer these and help me out it'd be great!

    Cheers:)

Have you check iTunes for the latest Firmware updates? It might just need a backup, fresh install and restore.

'Firmware' doesn't ring a bell so pardon my silliness, but by that do you mean the constant updating and installing of the lastest iTunes? If so, I always update it whenever a new version pops up!

Not of iTunes, bit of the iPod Software itself. You should be able to update it in the iPod device.

If it keeps bothering you just reset the iPod. Been a while since I have but it's something like holding the menu button and toggling the lock switch. Google ftw there.
Mine was one of the first ones oh so many years ago and it doesn't give me any grief. iPhone on the other hand... =o(

anything funky installed on it? Like corrupted pics or anything? Long fix might be to iDump all the music on an external, synch everything off the iPod and then start synching back songs and stuff.

Past that dude i dunno. Did you try emailing Apple Support? They're not bad at answering once you get past the initial automated response.

BTW is it a Nano or regular? Video?

    Thats her there.

Nothing messy on her that I know of. Not even any movies, just a few quick footy vids n that. There's 14GB of audio on her plus a bit more with the vids and pics, that wouldn't have any impact surely if she can hold 30GB?

Will I try delete the pictures off it? Never even look at em anyway.

And do you mean, take everything off it, then slowly start putting it all back on or what!?

If you don't look at them then it might not hurt. I know vids slow down my iPhone. I only use my pod solely for music these days and as mentioned before it hasn't skipped a beat.

I usually go by the following rule:
If I don't use it or haven't looked at/played in the past 9 months I ditch it. This obviously refers to whatever is on my pod and phone.

If she's built for 30GB then 14GB should be no problems whatsoever.

In response to the taking it off question, Yeah that is what I meant. iDump it first so you wont lose it, then synch stuff on. Music first, if there's no problem then your footie vids, if there's still no problem then all the other crap. Process of elimination.

    I'd say:

    1. Plug it into iTunes and restore it.
    2. Charge it to full battery and then let the battery run all the way down in one go (just loop a song), this is good for it.

Only if that doesn't work would I fragment it.

/goes of to fragment own iPod while thinks of it
