Can anyone recommend where i can get a Humax DTT box repaired?
Power supply board was blown by a close lightning strike last year.

I've Emailed Humax, never got a response. Any suggestions gratefully received, thanks.

I'm sure you could do it yourself if your handy with a soldering iron.http://www.humax-zone.net/index.php?page=repair They are the same as the Humax HDCI 2000 (the one you have is the dvb-t model). So same boards different tuner....

OR You send this guy your board and he replaces the components on it.

    Thanks, STB.
I'll check out the info on the PSUs, although the board is not quite the same as the HDCPI2000 satellite version. I have both, and of all my boxes only those two were affected by the strike - both were dead. The fuse on the satellite box had blown, I replaced it, and it's been fine since.
The DTT box fuse hadn't blown. There are enough differences in the PSU boards to make them non-interchangeable. I did a resistance comparision test with a friend's DTT PSU and think it's narrowed down to one of two components. But I can't find out what they are. If I can't find anything to identify them, i'll get in touch with the address you gave me. Thanks a mill for your help.

Surprised the internal fuse didnt blow. Yes you'll probably need the schematic (I dont have one - but there should be one out for the sat version at least - the T version is around some time but mainly only in Europe because the BBC used them for their HD tests in London and then the early DTT tests by D/Communications). There is a service manual for the sat version on the site below. I have a 2000t myself. Would have though the PSU would be identical for the 2000 and 2000T but there you go.

On the 5400s PSU there are 2 known components that blow......(by the way I think that is the board in the photo above above rather than the 2000t)

Take care as the capacitors can hold a lethal charge after disconnection from mains, especially when the SMPSU is not running.

If you are not qualitfied in working with electronics find someone who is. Poor repair or wrong parts can also result in a shock hazard or fire risk.

    Does satcure fix these?

If they were hit by a lightning strike then I think you are waisting your time. God only knows what was effected on the board.

If I was you I would contact a installer, ask if they get you a new machine, claim it off your house insurance and get the installer to give you a letter for the insurance company stating that the old machine is "beyond economical repair"

thanks Watty, i did initially short the big capacitor with a resistor to be safe, haven't felt any twinges yet!

Weehamster - thanks for suggestion, but I did temporarily replace the power supply with my mate's (very trusting guy) and the box worked normally, so it's just the power supply board.
The dish wasn't struck, I think there was a big surge on the power line because of a nearby lightning strike and the fuse for the plug sockets blew.
If I can't get the board repaired then I'll certainly consider other options.

I've downloaded some stuff from the site STB recomended, will take a bit of time to look through it. Will let you know how i get on.
