    Hi all,

I'm trying to connect my computer to my tv via hdmi. However, I can't get the audio to work.

On other machines I could change the sound to HDMI under playback devices but that option isnt on this machine.

    Any ideas?

Is it an HDMI through a DVI converter?

I don't think audio goes through the hdmi port on a graphics card. I did get a card once that had a special internal cable to connect the graphics card to the sound card/motherboard so I'm assuming a graphics card has to have that option to put sound through the graphics card.

does your soundcard/motherboard have a digital out? You might be able to connect that to your tv.

    Hey,

Its just a straight HDMI port - no converters.

Audio defo goes through HDMI alright, I've got a Dell M1330 laptop and a pc I built myself and HDMI audio works fine.

This machine I'm talking about is a Vaio TT. In device manager I found "Intel High Definition Audio - HDMI" in device manager under sound. But in the placback devices there's only a realtek device.

Are you using on the board or discreet graphics card? If on the board download/install latest intel drivers, if discreet which video board?

Hey, I'm using onboard. Installed Intel drivers for Windows 7 but still no joy :(

did it work under vista, might be a case of drivers not mature yet?
    What chipset/videocard?

only ATI cards can pass on an audio signal through HDMI. If its Nvidia/Intel, you're outta luck, you gotta set up some speakers and connect them to the laptop

    Hey,

I've got an Nvidia on my M1330 and it works fine.

It didn't work on Vista either....maybe I'll just give sony a buzz

I saw a similar problem in Vista with an Intel chipset/"graphics card". Solved it by downloading the latest Intel drivers from their website. Might also be worth checking Sony for updated drivers.

Have a look in the bios, on my htpc I had to turn it on there before it was passed on to the TV.
