Motor Insurance No Claims Discount Question

Just looking for a little help...

Just coming near to my renewal date at the end of my third year of insurance in my own name.

Unfortuantely I had a claim last November but I have some kind of step back protection cover on my AXA policy but I'm not quite sure what it means.

The Certificate of No Claims Discount that came with my renewal quote says:
The actual number of years without a claim occurring on this policy is: 0 years

Percentage NCD allowed, including amounts allowed for named driving experience, acceleration or step-back: 30%

Point on our NCD scale A** including amounts allowed for named driving experience, acceleration or step-back: 2

Number of claims recorded in the last 5 years: 1

Basically I'm wondering if the 2 is purely applicable to dealings with AXA as it is their own scale, or if it is 2 years NCD for the purposes of getting quotes from other companies too?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Paul

It will apply to other companies aswell, you'll need to declare the claim to the new company but you should still get a discount for 2 years NCB.

It depends on the other companies, some will accept the 2, others will not. You need to ask when you ring around for a quote and mention your policy was protected. I had fully protected with Hibernian and had a claim. When I switched to FBD they allowed me my full no claims discount.
