    Hi All

I have a Renault RX4 01 reg which for the past week is not starting up first go.its just turning over then I try again and it will start
Then today I have noticed when changing gear and put my foot on the gas there is not alot of power then normal.
    What could be the issue
    thanks

Could be the fuel pump. I'm not too familiar with renaults but in some cars when you turn the key to the warning lights stage there is a slight hum noise for a second coming from the pump priming. This could be the problem.

Is it a diesal or unleaded?

if its petrol it could be the crank position sensor for hard starting.
as for power can be many things like plugs, coils, timing throttle body.
    need some more info...

It'll be petrol alright, they only came in 2.0 petrol iirc.

I'd still say take a look at the pump then followed by other posters suggesting plugs, points, crank sensor etc.
Only other thing is maybe the o2 sensor but the engine should still fire up

yeah .its a 2.0 petrol. If I clean the spark plugs will I need to disconnect the battery . And what will I use to clean them . it got a new timng belt last year
