    Hi,

I'm selling my laptop and looking to completely wipe my hard-drive. Is there free software/ easy method to do this? I don't have my original windows disk at the moment, do I need this?

    Thanks

    P

    http://www.dban.org/

If you dont have origional discs possibly there is a hidden partition on the machine with the windows setup files, search online to see if you can back these up and put them on a CD/DVD, should be guides out there I'm sure, DBan will do a full secure format, compared to the basic one a OS install would do, which would make recovering files very easy

Any of those tools would be fine I'm sure, but without reinstall discs you will find it more difficult to sell a laptop with no operating system. Or will you be installing linux on it?
