Just rang Sky to order the above, im an existing customer and was told it would be an extra 29.50 per month for the above, is this correct??

I thought it was only 14.75 for HD and multiroom.....

It's €14.75 for multiroom and €14.75 for HD - unless you are a new customer and can get an offer (plus of course the initial outlay for equipment!)

I cancelled sub (no attempt to keep custom after 5 years!!) applied again in wife's name to get above at half price (that happened to be offer at the time)

    Jesus i didnt realise that.

    So its gonna be -

70 - for the full movies/sports etc package
    14.75 - for multiroom
    14.75 - for HD
25 - for an eircom phone line that i have no use for

125 quid a month to have 2 boxes and about 10 HD channels, ouch.

On the plus side its only 50 for the HD box and installation for multi room but still, any chance i could bargain them down a bit? ive been a customer for the past 5-6 years.

€1500 a year  you must love your football

if you didnt need all the channels in the second room you could get a freesat hdr would save 480 ish a year....

I called them this time last week, got through to cancellations, and the girl I spoke to eventually relented and offered me the box and install free of charge. Getting through to the normal sales people seems hopeless, no bargaining with them in my experience.

Try the "NTL are doing it much cheaper" line, it seemed to do the trick for me!

More about just having my own box to watch what i want when i want tbh, just with the current deal with the HD box it tempted me in.

The freesat thing doesnt have the stupid channels the rest of the house want im afraid so thats not gonna wash. :(

If your multiroom box is HD too, do you have to pay a further €14.75?

Hard to beleive but yes...u have to pay €14.75 extra for every HD box on the account, its nuts...but there is now 33 HD channels available when the full package is taken out.

I pray for the day the extra charge disapears and there is a massive push to gear customers to Hd instead of Sky plus so hopefully it will happen sooner rater than later, and as the Hd BOX is fully compatible with 3dtv due to launch next year...the Hd BOX is definetly the way forward in my opinion

Sky are making a fortune on the HD subs. I would love to see it gone, but will not happen anytime soon. HD is a premium product and while people are still willing to pay, Sky will happily take their money.

That is absolutely ridiculous! I know HD is much nicer to watch but its not worth 30€ a month EXTRA for two boxes showing some HD content. One would have to be either always watching movies or documentaries for most of their content to be in HD!

I agree with you Zonda....I installed 3 of them once in the one house and a Sky plus box.....cant remember what package he took but heck his package wasnt far off 200 odd euro....I know it was pocket change to him...but nevertheless Sky should have given him a discount...

Whoa, they must have needed an octo LNB anyway! Jeez, that is nuts though, about 2400€ per annum just for satellite tv!

Another question actually following on from that, they had four sky boxes so would they have had to pay three multiroom subscriptions?

Yup the got an octo lnb and indeed paid €15 for each extra box and a further €14.75 x2 for each of the second and third HD box and €15 for the sky plus...its insane as I said the customer had it but I was shocked he didnt even flinch when I told him how much his sub would cost every month

on the subject guys, how do you add more that one other multiroom on their site? the black box for my 1080p.. then a white box.. - and then i need another i think to access TV in a third room, no basic 'analogue' access UPC style obviously?? how

-have to calculate the tally for a start. UPC let me down, slow rolling out their 'HD'
