    First of all congratulations.
I did one of the old food courses, Food Technology (we were the last seperate Food Tech class in 2001 after that they combined Food Science & Tech into one course). First year is about getting you a "grounding in science" and they will introduce you to food slowly. After that you will have Food Chemistry (covering Dairy Chem, Meat Chem, Chemistry of Proteins, carbohydrates plus a other bits & pieces), Microbiology, Food Technology (Dairy, Brewing, Meat, Packaging, Fruit, Veg, Cereals, beverages, Fats & Oils), Food Legistation and QA. Its a broad course and very varied with some great lecturers, labs and best of all 6 months industry experience in 3rd year. Also along the way you will have lectures in food business & engineering. In my time we had electives in final year in that you could specalise is either Food Chem, Food Micro, Business or Engineering. Plenty of projects also along the way. Feel free to PM/email me if you want to know more.
