runnin vista on macbook pro, keyboard lights stoped working

they work when i run OSX but not if i run vista, they used to work in both OS before, and was able to dim them or brighten them but doesnt seem to work anymore

I ran vista briefly on my macbook just to try it out. I noticed that the backlight on the keyboard didn't activate if the ambient light was high enough to see the keys. You could try holding your hand in front of the light sensor and see if that helps. It should be on the top of the screen in the centre.
