I have a problem with the date formats in excel.
I'm using Office XP on Vista.

When I for example type in 6/8 it converts it to 8-June (instead of the 6th of August)??

If I try format a cell to date, it shows the locale as English (United States), but I dont know why this is as my regional and language settings are correct.

I've checked my Vista regional settings, and they are correct,
    Location:Ireland
    Short Date: 18/8/2009
    Long Date: 18th August 2009

I've checked the Microsoft Office XP Language settings, and they are set to English (UK).

    Cant figure it out?:(
    Amy help appreciated.

In Excel, right click the Column letter and do the following:

Format Cells > Number > Catagory > Date > Now choose your format type > OK

Thanks but that is only a temporary change of the format for that column.

I'm looking to change the default excel date format, which for some reason at the moment seems mm/dd/yy instead of dd/mm/yy.
