Okay general question. In my room i have my home cinema set up. It consists of a tv, xbox360, surround sound, stereo connected to surround sound, extra speakers, charger for xbox controller, xbox headset charger, sky box,. The problem is i only have two plug sockets so i got two extension cords(the white ones with around 4 plugs on them) and pluged them into one and other. is this safe? or should i plug each cord into a seperate socket?

defo plug each powerstrip into it's own socket. Each powerstrip most likely has a 13A fuse, so on the powerstrip nearest the wall socket it has it's own connected load (eg tv, sky box & xbox) PLUS the load of the daisy chained one (surround sound etc...) - you don't want to load up an individual powerstrip with a load that could be spread over two powerstrips. They are only cheap plastic usually anyway!

Maybe arrange them such that you can unplug one powerstrip at nigh for non-essential on all the time stuff (such as TV, surround sound etc.) and have the other one plugged in permanently (Sky box, xbox chargers etc.)

I'd also recommend trying to get a power block that has a surge protector. This can help protect your equipment.

Sometimes, there's no easy way around having a lot of devices in a power block.
