Hello... Dont know if this is the right forum but this but here it goes !

I tried to join the british army. I went for the first interview and BARB Test (IQ Test) everything was sorted then I was giving medical forms to be filled out by my GP.
So I filled them out and even left in the part about me having depression during my teenage years over 4 years ago I was on medication and with a therapist. So they rejected my application on those grounds. Im really disapointed about this I do have the right to appeal their decision though and im just wondering could anyone tell me am I wasting my time trying to appeal?

In order to appeal I have to go to my doctor ( which is going to cost me money I dont really have ) and get him to write me up a letter to say im all good now.

yes, you'll be wasting your time.

the BA is at, or nearly at, absolutely full strength. there are ex-soldiers applying for re-enlistment with perfect service histories being knocked back or being made to wait 12 months.

sadly, in that recruiting environment you - that's anyone whose application has any form of 'baggage' (criminal convictions, debt, health problems etc..) doesn't stand a chance.

sorry, but that's the way it is at the moment, it may change in the future.

    DONT MIND THAT

My cousin is currently serving as a recruiter with the british army and from what he tells me they are in desperate need of troops willing to go to afghanistan and i would say appeal there decison if you get a doctors letter chances are they`ll accept you.

to the person above me the british army wouldn`t increase its recruiting drives if it didn`t need recruits now would it?

I remember reading that the British intended going on a recruitment drive in the republic, there's still a chance you could make it in.

My cousins eldest has recently passed his BARB and is waiting, likes lots of guys, he's hearing rumours of a wait list for certain Regiments REME etc, Hes after 2 Para. If your really gagging for this, well a GP's letter isn't going to hurt is it..but it may not help either.

They simply increase advertising in stuff that is circulated in the republic like FHM, Loaded etc

There are no recruitment stands in Stephens Green Shooping centre or anything.

the british army have absolutley no recruiting powers in the republic they cant put ads on irish tc channels either cause thats counted as recruiting but you will see more ads on utv etc but you sure as hell wont see any posters in the republic
