I've been looking more and more into this over the past few weeks and discovered very little info regarding Irelands connection,I've found some photos of the British and American fleet anchored in Cobh,Bangor, and Berehaven and a couple of the American sea planes that were based here but very little else,although there was a considerable amount of ships using our ports there isn't much to be found on them(at least I haven't found much)on the net,I was just wondering if anyone here has images ,info or some links to follow to find out more about this.I also was looking for a photo that I once saw of Americans playing baseball in Ringaskiddy,I wish I had that saved now.

I found the photo of the baseball game,this isn't much to go on but is said to be Americans playing a game at Ringaskiddy in Cork during the war,anyone any info?

There is a book dealing with US Forces in Ireland, but can't remember the title. But it's called something like US military bases / camps in Ireland, or something like that, there could be some years in the title as well, like 1918 - 1945. That's all

Hi there, i think there's a lot more to be done on this history in Cork Harbour esp. incredible to think the slipway used by the US Naval Air Service still exsists... I have a link here to the Glen Curtis Museum in the US.....

I know upuntil recently the @ the Tennis club entrance they had a carved sign mentioning the base, does anyone know where that is now?

Hi jojofive,sorry that's all there is,here's the link to the photo,the person there may be able to help, http://irisheagle.blogspot.com/2006/12/ringaskiddy-baseball.html ,it mentions that it's from the 1920's but if it is the U.S. Navy then they were gone by this stage,it may be one of those photo's that will never be properly identified or merely mixed up with some other timeframe or event.
