    Hi

I regularly exchange large amounts of data from one external USB HD to another and I've found that when using Windows Explorer to transfer the files its takes a very long time (hrs if I want to transfer say 150Gb+).

My question is if there is any better software out there which is more efficient at transferring the data than Windows Explorer is or is it just a limitation of USB2.0 that you just have to live with??

TeraCopy my good man, with the ability to Pause and resume.

Cheers. I knew there had to be something as Windows Explorer seems very inefficient.

synctoy will only move files that have been newly added or modified, so unless all 150gb is new material, it will save you a lot of time

Its more a case of when I select large amounts of data and hit copy that it just sits there for hours.

Its just the transfer rate that I'm looking to improve.

terracopy does change the ransfer rate. but if you change it to much it will be unreliable.

what transfer rate are you getting?

edit: prepping for a second try of Win7. Getting 15.0 MB/s and climbing.

Just to point out, the hard drive itself may have a data transfer rate slower than the optimum USB2.0 transfer rate.

Just because a device says it's a USB2.0 device does not mean that data will transfer at a USB2.0 rate.
