Apologies, if there is a thread about this already.
My memory stick doesn't seem to be working. I have some important stuff on it, but when I put it in the USB port, it's not getting recognised.
Is this a lost cause or is there anything that can be done to salvage what was on the device ?
    Would appreciate any advice

    Thanks

Have you tried it in a different computer / USB port?

Have you tried it on a different PC or laptop? Also reboot and try it in a different USB port. Sometimes the machine remembers the stick if you do not use the remove hardware safely method and locks the port and you need to reboot to clear it.
    Just a try anyway....

Yes, I tried it on another laptop and same result. Will try the rebooting.
The odd thing is that there is a little red light which is on when it is inserted, but still no recognition of the device
