I seen a large fox sitting on a roundabout on a very busy intersection during the early spring, he sat there taking all in and wasnt the least concerened about all the coming and goings, maybe a reflection on our ever dwindling countryside which we can thank the now wounded celtic tiger for.
Edit to add another tale- I was shooting pigeons a few years back, we were using a pigeon magnet and I was using a dry ditch for cover, there was a very strong smell of fox in the ditch and I had guessed that afox must have been laying up in it recently , after a few hours of shooting we were packing up to leave when a fox calmly strolled out of the ditch not 5 yards fron where id been hiding and crossed the field in front of us, myself and another lad stood there with guns in slips over our shoulders and carryng a pile of gear as we watched the fox stroll off without a care in the world:D:D

went out for a walk one evening and saw 8 foxes (at least 6 of which were pups) in the space of about half a mile there is plenty more cover for at least double that number along another road not far from my house
last spring there was one that used to visit my back garden every night ,never could get a crack at him though..:D

A friend and me done away with three on the outskirts of Navan last night and spotted another 2 we couldn't take a shot at....no shortage of the buggers this year anyway.

They are just adapting, I guess they were here before us and are evolving to survive. They did so during the farming revolution when most of their natural habitat was turned in to field and fences that didn't really sustain much life.

You should see the wildlife in my area, badgers, foxes, seals, kestrels, buzzards, peregrines, egrets, sparrowhawks... to name a few, and I'm 5K from Dublin city center.

Did you know Irish people and wolves got on pretty ok back in the day? There were lots of wolves in Ireland long long after there were in Britain.

Hangaround the Santry road junction into the airport any night and you will see one mangey looking fox take a stroll up to it for his supper.

I got within 5 yards of him and he wasnt bothered !!
