    Hi,

Before I start I'll apologise for the non-technical description of cables etc...

I just bought a samsung b530 full hd lcd tv. Prior to this i connected my laptop to an old "box" tv with 2 separate cables (1st cable for picture via s-cable from the laptop to tv via scart converter & the 2nd for sound via headphone jack to tv via red/white wires). When i changed my tv i initially tried to connect this way but ended up with just a black & white picture on av channel with sound.

I then purchased a vga cable which has now resulted in a perfect picture on pc channel but no sound. I have tried to get sound by putting the 2nd cable into the headphone jack on laptop and connecting it via red/white connections into tv but to no avail..would appreciate any help..thanks.

Check that your laptop volume is set to full because correlated to the sound "heard" by your television.
Also make sure the tv speakers are turned on for that mode.

Also the red white audio inputs on the tv might only apply to certain inputs - component springs to mind. There is a seperate computer audio input beside the vga input on my tv.
The manual should describe how to connect a computer.

I've a Samsung LCD and I connect the laptop via the VGA cable. I also attempted to connect the audio in a similar manner to what you described without success. It appears that the input for the VGA connection does not have a corresponding audio input. It looks like you may need to amplify the audio independently or else use the built in laptop speakers.

    Thanks for all the help,

Sol - I have the volume up on the laptop & changed the settings around on the laptop - still no sound!

Nereid - The manual doesnt say much about connecting laptop to tv. You were right the red/white audio inputs on the tv are for other things & I found a separate audio/dvi input beside the vga input just like you said..it seems that I will have to get a converter for the red/white audio cable for it.

Crosstownk - I will go with your suggestion until I figure some more out

    Thanks again

    Hi Mona lisa,

according to information on av forums - the B350 has a PC audio input - this should look like a headphone/ microphone input

    http://www.avforums.com/forums/lcd-televisions/954308-information-about-samsung-b530-series.html

I use one of my PC speaker cables/jacks to hook up to my tv - these should have a lime green colour head....
