Gate modification?

    Hi.

I am somewhat stumped trying to work out how to cost effectively have a gate modified to lock from the outside.

It's large [about 8ft wide by 7 ft tall], made of steel, solid, and has a large bolt on the inside.

Any ideas? It doesn't need to be used by cars, at the moment at least, but is currently unusable as an exit due to the fact that it would just swing loose.

Didn't think of that. Can it be installed into a solid metal gate though.... hopefully.

Would nearly want to see a pic...but what about hanging the left leaf on right hand pier and vice versa?...

I doubt the gate is dolis metal. If it is, it won't be that thick.
So, its likely possible, post a pic to get a more solid answer

Just stick a big lock on it (facing outwards).

Got a locksmith to take a quick look at it who suggested either magnetic locking system [expensive] or a hole in order to operate the padlock from outside. The metal is too thin and too far away from the pillar to do much else, but at least it sounds a practical solution...

P.S. Mellor, you should ideally change your location to the Button :D
