    Hi Boards,

    wife's looking for a good laptop/notebook for our son going into leaving cert. She's got what looks like a good deal on this Sony Vaio NS Series (VGN-NS20E). It has 3GB RAM / 250Gb HD, 2.16GHz & 15.4" screen in a local shop and so far I cannot find a price that matches it on the web (very suprised) at around E550 inc VAT. (Will even take Vista off and give me XP instead). But I've search other threads in this forum and I see some issues with Sony Vaio models. I would have thought that Sony were a rock-solid brand.
    Any ideas on the subject? Should I stay clear?

    Regards

    Well i wouldn't say they're a rock solid brand, but for the price they're generally good, perhaps a bit expensive. Just to note, i wouldn't roll back to xp, it's a waste of time. Windows 7 will be out in October, and its a fantastic OS. Check to see if that laptop comes with a free upgrade to windows 7 as at this stage most should.

    Thanks;

    In fact, the wife tells me the offer is for a free Windows7 upgrade. Not sure if I'm allowed to mention the exact business in Gorey on boards but if you PM me (I think that's the correct phrase..I'll check to see if I've added that to my profile). Just confirmed with the missus to be sure E569 inc VAT pink or silver.
