One of the Kilkenny riders has one. Is it JerseyEire ? I think it might be. I used the frame from one to build up a bike for my brother also (an unbranded one painted black). On the original thread the owner makes a few comments about it (the summary is that it does what it says on the tin and that any negative comments were made by people who either did not own or had never even seen one, therefore there was quite a bit of snobbery)

If you can afford a better bike get one, but for 799 they are a decent bus to start out on. You can always upgrade the frame at a later date if you spot a bargain.

    They're €899

Yes, I'm the cheap-skate on the LIDL bike, type LIDL bike into the search and you'll see my previous posts. I'm delighted with the bike and it's done about 5,000km at this stage. If I get back into employment anytime this century I'll probably start saving for a nice pair of wheels for next year (how cool would a pair of Zipps look on a LIDL frame?) If you price all the parts seperately it'll come to around €990 not including the frame.

Not so sure now that the new Ultegra's out. Still great bang for your buck IMO. I wonder if they should have gone the Shimano 105 route and sold it for €500 or €600. I think more people would have bitten.

Not very cool, but certainly ironic.

They probably got a good price on the old Ultegra since it was being replaced.

I've serviced (and briefly ridden) one of these bikes. They're grand - do what you'd expect a road bike to do. The finish on the frame (welds etc.) isn't stunning but is acceptable. The bar and stem are pretty cheap looking but still allow you to steer. It's a good buy for the price.

Or Tiagra. I'd be quite happy with Tiagra on an entry level road bike. Very odd decision, I can only imagine they got hold of a truck load of Ultegra going cheap.

Interesting. They were originally advertised at 899 but the price was dropped on the first run of them as far as I remember to 799. Not sure about subsequent runs.

don't think they were ever €799 here. Were €799 in Germany and elsewhere on mainland Europe and €799 in the UK but always €899 here

Got one of these a few weeks ago.

Frame size options of 52/57/60cm are not wide options and you can't test run before you buy, so buying one is a bit of a stab in the dark. Mine is grand, it works, frame is an reasonable fit and the Ultegra gives the ride some quality. Anyhow I plan get a new frame and wheel set by Christmas.

It's a more than adequate starter road bike if you ride the available sizes, and it is a good base to upgrade from.
