Meh.....Its the price of it but its no bargain. Accords are nice cars but they're way over priced in Ireland. We seem to think of them as a kinda premium car yet in th UK they sell along side Mondeos. 500 quid more buys this though http://cars.motornet.ie/usedcars/index.cfm?fuseaction=car&carID=200925194372622

you can get an 05 A3 for about the same money:

But its an A3...like thats a tiny car ( and also way over priced )

With 100,000 miles on a Longford plate

Which means you can never sell it in D4 :D

Which is a smaller car, with a crap engine, poor spec - stuff like no air con, less reliable, duller to drive and twice the mileage.
    Think before you post! :D

I did think. In my book an A3 is far more desirable then a Honda accord.

On a TDI 100k millage is barely broken in.

    give this a look then:A4 1.8 , Air con, 64k

That's why no one bought your book.

Well with all the car snobbery in this thread, If you think a Honda civic variant(another bland cheap looking Jap) which is what the accord is IMO, is better looking then any of the vag range then good luck to you.

You think disliking the A3 is badge snobbery? The A3 is nothing but badge snobbery: four rings stuck on a Golf to sucker people into paying more for a "premium" brand.

Oh dear... your car knowledge is really poor. I don't know whether to try to educate you or ignore you... but that post is rediculous.

Just for shìts and giggles, I'll point out that neither of the cars you linked is a TDI.

One has a miserable old hat 1.6 with 102bhp, the other has a miserable old hat 1.8. The Accord has a decent 156bhp engine which will be more reliable, has much more space inside than the A4, is better dynamically, much more kit in it, it's really a no brainer.
To answer the OP's question though, you may find a cheaper one as not many people in this country like 2 litre petrol saloons, so because they're hard to shift you can find a bargain. Although that one has very low mileage and is the Exec model. Certainly wouldn't be a bad buy at 9. Push for €8,500 though.

    I drive a '97 A4 (1.9TDI :p), my mother used to have a '97 Accord 2.0.

The Accord would rip strips off the A4 for acceleration, but thats 2.0 Petrol V 1.9 Diesel so not much of a surprise.

Flip side is the A4 does 2:1 mpg compared to the Accord.

The A4 is much more spacious, especially in the back. For comfort/handling theres not much between them.

No idea about newer models of either, I've never owned a car that was less than 6 years old.

The new one is fairly spacious. I always found the A4 tiny, especially in the back. The last Accord was very poor in the back too. New one though has plenty of room. The new Accord would be more economical too.

OP, I have that same model Accord - 2005, 2.0 petrol with 17 inch wheels with bit more mileage and no leather. Its a sweeeet car with plenty of room inside and bucket loads of power on the road. I get about 34-35 mpg mixed town/motorway, and I really enjoy driving it.
