Just wondering do I just print off my results off the web for students link on the gmit site and send that off or do I have to ring them up?

Also I failed one subject and didn't repeat it,will that affect it? I presume it'll be ok and I'll just carry it this year?

I can't really help you with the repeat question but my grants office (Waterford City council) would not accept the results printed from the net. I needed a proper transcript ent out by the college.

I'll probably have to get a transcript too so,as for my repeat question,I think your allowed to carry two subjects you failed into the next year provided you go back and repeat them at some stage,I don't see why it would affect the grant since I would be progressing into my second year of the course as is my understanding but I'm not too sure

I was told by the fee's office (had to ring them cause they sent me the wrong repeat exam invoice) that if I failed my repeat exam (I only failed one exam, maths), I would go through to 2nd year, but I would no longer be entitled to the grant, which I have been getting for the past year (im also going into the 2nd year of my course).

Perrin, your understanding is correct. As long as you progress into the next stage of your course you will be entitled to your grant. What you may need is to get the grants office to confirm for your VEC/Council that you have progressed as your results would still show fail grades.

Thanks galwaynative, tampler damn near gave me a heartattack there.Ya it says Exemption(s) Granted beside the one I failed, figured I'd just write in the notes section of the grants form that I still passed the year, probably need something more official though

Hadn't spotted the bit about not doing the resit! Have you checked out with the school office that it is a subject you are allowed to carry? even though you can carry up to 10 credits and progress there are some courses which have subjects that you must pass to be allowed into the next year. You might want to pop into the student office (old reception)for advice on how to to get a letter for the grants office, not sure if they will /can do it before the resits results are in systems etc.

Ya I emailed the head of the department and he confirmed that I can carry that subject into year two, just have to get a transcript of my results and probably a letter too now
