    Hi all,

I have dvd footage from a camcorder that I'm using for a presentation.

The clips are about 30 mins long, but I just need snippets from it, e.g. from 3-7 mins and from 24-26 mins.

Whats the best way to trim the footage?

Elecard have a free utility, it might suit your needs.

    Stream Trimmer
Stream Trimmer is designed to trim portions of a predefined size or duration from an MPEG-2 file. Simple interface and straightforward logic add value to this handy tool for video editors.

    * Download (0.77 MB, ZIP)

It is listed on their product page here: http://www.elecard.com/download/

Here's the specific link for the software:

I can't make any promises, I haven't used it, but Elecard are an ok software company.

Solveig Multimedia do a commercial product here:

I don't know how 'crippled' the product is in Trial mode. I use their free .avi trimmer and it works great, so the rest of their software will probably be just as good.

I've installed the Elecard utility, it is.. basic, but there's nothing wrong with that!

    The interface is minimal.

    Hi all,

I just downloaded that software but it's only or mpeg files.

I have a DVD with a VIDEO_TS folder - theres no mpeg files.

Is it possible to convert a dvd to mpg or is there any other alternative?

jamieh, take another look.. the SolveigMM Video Splitter software is live for 15 days by the way, I installed that too.

Here are the 'How To' pages: http://www.solveigmm.com/?HowTo

..and here's a How To on editing video, specifically from a Vob, which might suit you.
