    hi all

im ditching my runflats (cooper s)
so i need to get a can of "magic-goo" and
    a ciggy lighter pump

where would i get this stuff and
what are the right names for what i need?
i have had no joy searching as i dont know what to search for!

is it something i would get in halfords

i know bmw do an emergency kit
    but its probably well expensive

i have never had a puncture in 11 years on the road
    hope it stays like that!

    thanks

I'd get some kind of rescue membership too, neither the 'goo' nor the compressor will help if you get a blow out or a puncture due to damage to the sidewall.

Surely just a spacesaver will do the job rather than "rescue membership". Bit extreme for a flat tyre, no?

Sure, if the MINI has a well for it. I don't think the BMW 3 series, for example, does. Otherwise a space-saver is a pretty big thing to have sitting in a rather small boot.

Mini compressor and can of tyre weld "Halfords" would be the right spot to get them..

Sorry, missed that bit in the original post and just assumed it was a BMW. Make more sense now alright.

Why are car manufacturers so opposed to spare wheels? Especially full sized spare wheels?

well, theres no room in a mini
but the missues 3 series has none either!

runflats are a pain in the arse though
    they are really noisy

btw, thanks for the help all

Of course there is room in a mini (I say this because the MINI is quite a large car!), but for some reason BMW decided not to fit a wheel well!

If you read the can of holts you will see they tell you to drive to the closest garage to inflate the tyre, so having the compressor is a good idea!

    hi

    have you got a mini?
big is not a word i would use to describe a mini!
(unless you add "fun" at the end ;)

without getting out a tape measure i can confidently say that
the boot is not as deep as a wheel (front to back)
so it would have to go in under the back seats
which is complicated to say the least, if not impossible

the battery is in the well of the cooper s anyway

anyway, its not up to us what way bmw make minis!

thanks for the comment on the tyreweld
feel better now!, i havent bought a can so have just read
    the basic points on websites

    cheers

Weight for fuel efficiency. A full size spare with tyre and equipment needed to change such would be a fair bit of extra weight to lug about, for the rare time most people get a puncture, when runflats do just as good a job. Noise and passenger comfort don't get measured in offical figures.
