quick rent relief question

I'm renting a house since 2007 - until now have not applied for rent relief. As far as I know landlord is above board - registered with PRTB. I don't know his PPS number but as far as I'm aware I don't really need to as I have his address and bank account.

My question is this - when I apply for rent relief does my landlord get notification of this?

    Thanks.

    AFAIK no.

What you file on your tax return is between you and the revenue.

No the landlord isn't notified when you make a claim for tax relief on rent paid to a private landlord.

However, natually enough, note would be taken of the landlord's details, and should he not declare the rental income on the tax return for the relevant years, Revenue would be asking questions of him in future.
