State Benefits when Job Conditions change . .

I know somebody who's employer is looking to change the terms of their contract, but are willing to negotiate on the employees terms somewhat.

The issue of Short time v Job Sharing Came up.

My understanding is that the employee is better off with the Short Time situation (as they will still be entitled to J.S Benefit).

Is there any reason why the employer would not want to agree to Short time over job-sharing? (perhaps they have to pay full PRSI this way).

Is it true that the employee is better off (in all regards) on short time then on Job Sharing ?

Is there much of a differance if you voluntarily agree to something as opposed to being told that "this" is happening ?

Is there any differance for the employee if and of these situations are agreed to be temporary or permanent ?

Thanks for any help in advance. .

If someone voluntarily opts for Job Sharing then they are not entitled to claim Jobseeker's Benefit - I would guess that the same would be true for Short Time working.
What would the Job Sharing arrangements? Week on week off? Or working half days every day?

Think it was more work a three day week . .

So they would have to opt for that voluntarily? Then they wouldn't be entitled to claim JSB. However, if they were put on a 3 day week against their will they could apply for JSB.
