Hi folks looking for a dig out here, my sister's 01 space star has a small problem with the windows, all 4 windows will open from drivers door control, but passenger side and 2 back windows won't open off there own switch's, i thought it might be a fuse, but checked them all everything is ok, then i thought it might be the individual switch's but whats the odds on all 3 of them going together. Any ideas appreciated.

Has she got the child lock on?

I'd guess its the "master switch/drivers switch" at fault.

trip to your local breakers might be worth a go about €10 for the switch.

Most cars with electric rear windows have a switch beside the window controls for the driver that allows you to disable the rear window switches, look for a little window symbol with an x across it.

Cheers for the quick reply guys, have tried the lock on and off a couple of times with no joy, not even making a sound when there buttons are pressed, when you say master switch is that the controls on the drivers door, as i said they all work from this switch they just won't work off there own switch, thanks for the help.

might be like the mazdas when the battery gets disconnected.

push each switch down individually and hold it for a couple of secs when the window goes fully down and again when it goes fully up! should reset it if its the same system as the mazdas

No no luck with this back to the drawing board.

I'd check the manual to see if its some sort of simialar procedure but with different things to do when the window is down (eg turn engine on/off or double pull the switches etc! the jap cars tend to have the same sort of electonics!) somebody on the mazda3 forums was charge £25 for the dealers to "reset" the windows using the above method which is mentioned in the manual!

Check the owners club forum on the internet, if its a simple prob, more than likely somebody on there will have the solution! If not, get the wallet ready!

I doubt that all other three switches are faulty, and as the windows work from the master driver's switch I would assume the lock portion of the drivers window panel is faulty. As mentioned above, a used panel should be fairly cheap from a scrappy.

From what I remember, the Space Star has (really un-mitsubishi) elctronic switches for the electric windows, and they have anti-pinch mechanisms. my guess is the windows need programming. maybe the battery was disconncted? could be a faulty drivers door switch

Cheers Guys, the battery was replaced about a year ago, but she never noticed the problem till now, i will take a trip around the scrap yards and get a new control panel for drivers door and see if it is that.

If it is reprogramming is this something that can be done myself or has it to go to a garage to be done.

As noted already it's probably the lock-out switch.

In the case of a dead battery with an electronic system I would expect only the driver window to stop working normally.
