Perhaps someone can clarify what is going on for me.

My laptop was stolen out of my luggage from a jfk-dublin flight in December of 2007. I reported it to both aer lingus and the travel insurance company.

I heard nothing back from either of them.

Given the recent discoveries of widespread theft, is this something I can continue pursuing?

more than likely you will be told to fupp off - but worth investigating and possibly asking either the DAA and/or a solicitor.

Nothing to do with the DAA, they are not responsible for any ground services, besides it's a Servisair employee who was questioned. Not much a solicitor can do at this stage.

OP: Aer Lingus do their own luggage handling, so you need to follow up with them. If you have reported the theft to Aer Lingus and your insurance company, then the insurance might be pursuing the matter. Check with them. You should have been given a claim number.

thanks for the correction .... I was more hinting at asking the DAA who to contact.
